Donate Toiletries To Summit's Homeless Before Or On MLK Day
A local organization is collecting toothpaste and other toiletries all month, and seeking volunteers on MLK Day to build kits.

SUMMIT, NJ — Winter is a tough time to be homeless. And even those who get help with food or rent rent may not be able to afford items like shampoo, razors, toothpaste, deodorant, and floss. Bridges Outreach, founded in 1988, collects those items and reaches out to the homeless population in Summit, Newark, and Irvington each week.
They are seeking volunteers to help sort the items into toiletry kits on Martin Luther King Day as part of the MLK Day of Service. The items to donate can be left at the Westfield Municipal Building and the local Presbyterian Church in Westfield through Jan. 17. Donations can also be brought to the event on Jan. 20.
