Downed Power Lines, Pole Shuts Down Ashwood Avenue In Summit
Police say nearly 700 customers can expect to be without power for several hours.

SUMMIT, NJ - A telephone pole fell on Ashwood Avenue on Wednesday, tearing down power lines and forcing a road closure, according to Summit Police. The road is closed between Morris Avenue and Henry Street and police are telling motorists to avoid the area.
The roadway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time and will affect traffic for afternoon dismissal at Jefferson School, police said.
Due to the downed telephone pole and damaged wires, police said approximately 688 customers in the area can expect to lose power for several hours.
