Elizabeth Man Charged With Suffocating 73-Year-Old Man To Death: Prosecutor

ELIZABETH, NJ — An Elizabeth man was arrested in connection with the December 2016 asphyxiation death of a 73-year-old, acting Union County Prosecutor Thomas K. Isenhour announced Tuesday.

Juan Montijo, 55, was taken into custody without incident on Monday and charged with the murder of William Green of Elizabeth.

Green was found on Dec. 23, 2016 by Elizabeth Police in an apartment on the 1200 block of Clinton Place. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Isenhour said.

A long-term investigation found that Green had died of homicidal asphyxia.

Following numerous interviews and the examination of physical evidence, Montijo was later identified as a suspect in the case.
