Enright Melanoma Foundation receives grant support from the Summit Area Public Foundation for sun safety outreach campaign
Enright Melanoma Foundation receives grant support from the Summit Area Public Foundation for sun safety outreach campaign.
The Enright Melanoma Foundation announced that they have been awarded a grant from the Summit Area Public Foundation to continue their sun safety outreach to youth in the Summit, NJ area. This funding will encourage ages 5 and over to become educated about sun safety through the online Enright Sun Safety CertificationTM programs.
“With skin cancer rates rapidly increasing, there is an enormous need to educate young people, and those who influence them, on the dangers of over exposure to the sun and ultraviolet (UV) radiation”, according to Janet Horowitz, Executive Director, Enright Melanoma Foundation. The Enright Sun Safety CertificationTM program, designed by skin cancer professionals from the Enright Melanoma Foundation, is an advanced e-learning platform to answer two simple questions: How do you stay safe in the Sun? and Why is staying safe in the sun so important?.
“The support from the Summit Area Public Foundation is especially important since Joe Enright, who our Foundation is named for, was an internist with the Summit Medical Group”, said Richard O. Nelson, M.D., President of the Board of Trustees for the Enright Melanoma Foundation. “Joe lost his life at the early age of 37 from malignant melanoma. It’s so important that we educate people, especially kids, about how to be safe in the sun. We greatly appreciate this partnership.”
