Arthritis Foundation Exercise Classes

Every Tuesday at 2:00 pm and Thursday at 11:05 seniors can meet and take part in the Summit Y's Arthritis Foundation Exercise Class. This program is open to all; you need not be a member of the Y to participate. The class is free for Y members and just $1.00 per class for non-members.

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is a community based, recreational group exercise and education program designed specifically for people with arthritis and other related diseases.  The program's multiple components help reduce pain and stiffness, and help maintain or improve mobility, muscle strength, and functional ability.  Each class includes a variety of exercises that can be done while sitting, standing or lying on the floor; endurance building routines; relaxation exercises; and health education topics.  Individuals from basic to advanced will benefit from this program.  These classes are taught by trained and certified instructors in partnership with the local Arthritis Foundation chapter.  For more specific information contact Tracy Wanamaker, Group Fitness Coordinator, 908-273-3330 x 133, twanamaker@summitymca.org. The Summit Y is located at 67 Maple Street.

Our YMCA is one of the area's largest nonprofits. No one is turned away from life-enhancing YMCA programs because of the inability to pay.  If you need financial assistance, ask any Y staff member how to apply.  If you can help us help others, visit our website www.summitareaymca.org.
