The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey announces its studio art classes and workshops for the spring 2011 semester. Registration starts February 19 and continues until classes begin on April 11, 2011. 119 classes and workshops are scheduled for adults and 78 for children and teens; most courses run for 10 weeks.
29 new classes and workshops will be offered for adults, including Jewelry Making for Seniors (ages 60+), Chinese Brush Painting and Drawing on Your Creativity—a fresh and creative approach to learning how to draw based on a method similar to the famous Betty Edwards’ Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Close-Up Nature Photography and Plein Air Painting, covering all aspects of painting outdoors, are among the new spring workshops for adults.
Teens may choose among 6 new classes, including Jewelry Making for Teens (ages 14+) and Mixed Media & Collage (ages 16+). 16 new classes and workshops will be offered for kids, ranging from Exploring Landscapes to Gallery Exploration, where students will visit the art center’s three galleries to learn about contemporary art and then create artwork in different mediums based on the exhibition they are viewing. The new Mini Master’s Workshops will focus on a single famous painting, such as Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa; kids can create their own version of these masterpieces.
