First Sundays in Motion at the Summit Area YMCA a Success!

After a successful first event, the Sundays in Motion program will continue once a month at the Summit YMCA to serve special needs families.

After a great first run of the Sundays in Motion program on Sunday, November 20, the Summit Area YMCA is proud to provide continuing sessions of the program designed for children with special needs and their families. The free two-hour recreational program is open to the community and will include games and physical play, as well as open sensory activities in the Auditorium. Participants can also enjoy open swimming in the Buntin Pool of the Summit YMCA. Summit YMCA volunteers are also available to monitor and assist special needs participants in the gym and the pool.

The Sundays in Motion event enables families with special needs to have fun and stay healthy during the cold winter months. “It was great to see families come out and join us on Sunday to enjoy fun activities and exercise. There was a great sense of community and we’re excited to continue running the event on more Sundays this winter. Kids with special needs get to meet others, work on their social skills, and engage in some really fun activities and physical play with their families.” said Kyle Christian, Senior Program Director at the Summit YMCA. “We’re so happy that the event was so well received!”

As a cause-driven organization focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Summit Area YMCA is proud to offer quality programming designed to improve the foundations of community.
