Full-Day Kindergarten Lottery Open In Summit

SUMMIT, NJ - Forget Powerball or Mega Millions, if you are the parent of a kindergarten age student the only lottery you are interested in is the full-day kindergarten lottery which is open until Dec. 11.

The lottery application for Full Day Kindergarten is available online here and at the Primary Centers. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Dec. 11. The lottery drawing will be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 12 at the Board of Education offices.

The Summit Board of Education passed a resolution to continue the lottery program for the tuition based full-day kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Primary Centers at Jefferson and Wilson schools will use existing, available space for three classes of 23 full-day Kindergarten students, officials said. According to the district, the need for additional classrooms will be up to the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools June Chang.

The tuition for the full day program will be $5,500. per year with reduced tuition available for students who qualify under the Federal Reduced/Free Lunch Program.
