Home for Good Dog Rescue Celebrates Five Years

Home for Good Invites the Community to the Fifth Annual Bark-a-Que Event on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. at the Village Green.

Home for Good Dog Rescue is thrilled to invite the local community to the Fifth Annual Bark-a-Que, a celebration of the 3,800 dogs the organization has rescued and placed into loving homes since its inception in 2010. The event, which is open to the public, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. on the Village Green in Summit, N.J.

The day will feature food and merchandise vendors, family activities, face painting by the professional makeup artists of SEPHORA Short Hills, and special competitions for dogs, including the annual Mr. and Mrs. Bark-a-Que Contest judged by Summit Mayor Ellen Dickson. New York-based rock, funk, and soul band Deep C Revival will take the stage for a live musical performance.

The Bark-a-Que also hosts Home for Good’s largest adoption event of the year, with last year’s festivities uniting nearly 30 dogs with their “forever families”.

“We could not have placed so many homeless dogs in loving homes without the help of our friends, neighbors, volunteers, and fosters,” Rich Errico, Home for Good’s co-founder and treasurer, said. “This fun-filled day is really our way of celebrating this milestone with everyone who has supported us.”

In addition to welcoming the local community for a day of family fun, the Bark-a-Que reunites Home for Good’s southern and local foster families with the dogs they helped adopt into permanent homes. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about volunteering, fostering and adopting dogs.

“My family and I have fostered over 50 dogs with Home for Good, and we cannot wait to see all of our dogs again this month.” long-time foster and volunteer Rachel Lehner said. “Bark-a-Que is such a fun way to reconnect with all the dogs that have come through our home.”

For more information on the dogs available through Home for Good Dog Rescue visit the Home for Good website (www.homeforgooddogs.org). If you are considering adopting one of the Home for Good dogs, find out more about the application process (www.homeforgooddogs.org/adoption-process) and complete an online application. A pre-approved application is required for all “meet and greets” and adoptions.
