ICE Agents In Summit, At Least One Person Arrested: Police
Local police said they were not involved.
SUMMIT, NJ — Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers made an arrest in the City of Summit on Wednesday, Police Chief Ryan Peters said.
Summit Police were notified earlier in the day by the United States Department of Homeland Security that officers were acting on a warrant within the community.
The person was taken into custody without conflict.

Peters said his department was not involved, or called by any residents or law enforcement to aid in the operation.
"Since my appointment as Chief...this is the first time the Summit Police Department has been informed of federal immigration enforcement being conducted in Summit," he added. "We are unsure if future notifications will take place."

Patch has reached out to ICE for additional details regarding Wednesday's arrest and is yet to hear back.
