JLS Helps Puts Extra Halloween Candy to Good Use

At our most recent General Membership Meeting, Junior League of Summit members participated in a Done in a Meeting Project to benefit our troops all over the world.

Dr. Corina Atanase, a dentist in Chatham and a fellow member of the Junior League of Summit, spearheaded the project. Her dental practice was one of the hundreds throughout the country that participated in the Halloween Candy Buyback Program this year. The candy that was collected from her office and from our meeting were sent to Operation Gratitude who in turn will send care packages to our troops stationed worldwide. Over 250 pounds of candy were collected and sent.

We were thrilled to be a part of this project. We were able to limit how much candy our kids (and we) have in our homes, and we were able to write notes to the troops expressing our appreciation for their sacrifices and service. But most of all, it just feels good knowing we're helping to brighten the days of those who do so much to keep us safe.
