The Junior League of Summit (JLS) is thrilled to announce the success of the JLS Thrift Shop’s annual Coat Event held over the course of five days last month.

More than 600 new and gently used coats, along with an ample supply of similar boots, hats, gloves and scarves, were available for purchase at very affordable prices. The special event was held as a sidewalk sale outside the thrift shop on Deforest Avenue from October 12-16th.

Remaining coats were then sent to the JLS’s community partners, including GRACE (for its Coat Drive), Bridges Outreach, and Family Promise.

“Coats and winter accessories are always a necessity during the winter months. But during a pandemic, especially, folks are spending even more time outside,” expressed JLS President Tara Charvat. “We and our community partners are doing everything we can to make sure local families stay warm. We are so proud to be able to do this, and to be affiliated with other organizations that are doing the same.”

The JLS is now gearing up for its annual Holiday Boutique, which runs from November 27th through December 11th. The popular event offers many new and some gently used gift items for sale at a deeply discounted rate. Items include holiday clothing, gift wares, decorations, toys and jewelry.
