Mexican Spice Opens Pick-Up Location In Summit
"Who doesn't love tacos?!" Authentic, traditional Mexican meals-to-go shop can be found inside The Wine List in Summit.
SUMMIT, NJ — Mexican native Jennifer Teutli Alarcon is sharing the traditional flavor of her heritage at her newly opened pick-up location for Mexican Spice in Summit.
Teutli Alarcon was born and raised in Mexico City. She has since moved to Madison where she raised her family. Throughout it all, she always loved traditional Mexican food.
“I’ve always been interested in eating Mexican food. I’ve always just loved it. I loved going back to my country to eat because the food was so fantastic,” Teutli Alarcon told Patch. “I was always on the lookout for good Mexican and have always been disappointed.”

Teutli Alarcon took it upon herself to start cooking authentic Mexican food and began with inviting neighbors over for dinner. Eventually that evolved into her selling her dishes at farmer’s markets, which then evolved into her opening a commercial kitchen in Madison three years ago.
Continuing to expand on her success, Alarcon opened a pick-up location inside Main St. Wine Cellars in Madison six months ago. And now she has opened her second pick-up location inside The Wine List at 417 Springfield Ave. in Summit about two months ago.

Her shop sells meals to go every day of week, including freshly made salsas, homemade chips and guacamole and a full menu of items.
The most popular are the Chicken Tinga and Pork Carnita, which both include tortilla, salsas, sour cream, beans and rice. It’s a family-style dish that feeds three to four people.
All of Alarcon's food is made fresh daily, not processed and most dishes are gluten-free or nut-free.
“We offer a different option for dinner for the busy parent running around,” Alarcon said. “And who doesn’t love tacos?!”
She also offers catering for all types of events that not only includes the food but she can provide traditional Mexican decor such as pots, baskets, candles and table cloths. She also can have a pinata or a mariachi band play as well.
