Montclair Residents Host 40th Annual 'Bunk's Fun Run'

December, 2023 – Montclair residents Bruce and Susan Reitz hosted over 30 people at the 40th Annual Bunk’s Fun Run on Sunday, December 3rd. Their college friends, neighbors, Board Members, staff, and other S/PA supporters raised over $20,000 for scholarships for students. Since the Fun Run was started in 1983, it has donated over $220,000 to S/PA.

It was a cold and rainy December day, but that didn’t stop the runners and walkers from enjoying the exercise and the feast that followed. Congratulations to 3-time winner Alex MacKenzie of Tenafly, NJ and 1st time attendee Jeff Gilbert of Allentown, PA who finished together (24:58) as this year's winners. Following the event, Susan and her very talented team of cooks and bakers provided everyone with a delicious meal. The organizers have announced that the 41st Annual Bunk’s Fun Run is scheduled to take place next year on December 8, 2024.

The mission of Student/Partner Alliance (S/PA) is to support motivated high school students at private high schools in New Jersey’s urban areas of Essex, Hudson and Union counties with tuition assistance and mentoring to increase their chances for college admission and scholarships, and ultimately to lead successful and productive lives.
