Multiple Cars Burglarized Overnight In Summit

A Summit local was also arrested on drug charges in a separate incident, according to the police blotter.

SUMMIT, NJ — Multiple cars were reportedly burglarized while parked in Summit in one night, according to the police blotter.

On July 17 at 9:05 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from an unsecured motor vehicle, parked in the driveway of a Springfield Avenue residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 7:30 p.m. on July 16 and 8:30 a.m. a.m. on July 17. Taken from the unsecured vehicle were approximately 10 $1 bills. Total value of stolen items was approximately $10.

On July 17 at 9:30 a.m.: A report was taken for motor vehicles that had been entered in the overnight hours. The victim reported the vehicles had been parked, unsecured, in a driveway to a Springfield Avenue home. Taken from the vehicles was loose change in unknown increments.

On July 17 at 10:01 a.m.: A report was taken for a motor vehicle that had been entered in the overnight hours. The victim reported the vehicle had been parked, unsecured, in the driveway to an Edgewood Road residence. At the time of the report, it was believed nothing had been removed from the vehicle.

On July 17 at 10:24 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from an unsecured motor vehicle, parked in the driveway of an Edgewood Road residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 6 p.m. on July 16 and 9 a.m. on July 17. Taken from the unsecured vehicle was approximately $5 in loose change and the key fob to the car, which was valued at approximately $400. Total value of stolen items was approximately $405.

On July 17 at 6:11 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a motor vehicle parked in the driveway of an Edgewood Drive residence. The vehicle had been left unsecured when the incident occurred between 10 p.m. on July 16 and 6:11 p.m. on July 17. Taken from the vehicle was one Givenchy cross-body, burgundy handbag valued at approximately $1,500, one vintage patent leather handbag valued at $100, one purple wallet valued at $100, one pair of women’s Gucci brand sunglasses valued at $300 and approximately $300 in cash. Total value of items stolen was approximately $2,300.

On July 5 at 1:28 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a wallet. The victim reported to have picked up a client while working for a car service on July 1 at approximately 4 p.m. Shortly after dropping the client at their destination, the victim noticed the wallet was missing from the vehicle. The wallet was described as an orange Aldo wallet that contained multiple personal documents. The victim valued the wallet at approximately $150.

On July 7 at 6:39 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a cell phone and cash. The victim reported last seeing the items sometime between 11 p.m. on July 5 and 6 a.m. on July 6. The victim described the cell phone as a black Apple iPhone 7 and was valued at approximately $600. The amount of cash that was taken from the victim was approximately $750.

On July 13: David M. Jones, 50, of Jersey City, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant. Jones was processed and transported to the Union County Jail where custody was turned over to their officers.

On July 13: Sabrina Y. Rodrigues, 22, of Summit was arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and paraphernalia. Rodrigues was processed and released with a pending court date.

On July 17: Peter DiFonzo, 58, of Roselle Park was arrested and charged with simple assault and also had an active contempt of court warrant out of Manasquan. DiFonzo was processed on both charges and released with a pending court date.

On July 17 at 12:10 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a package from an Ashland Road residence. The victim reported to have received notification that a package containing a Garmin Fenis 5 Plus black watch had been delivered on July 16 at 12:11 p.m. When the victim arrived home and checked, they were unable to locate the item.

On July 18: Karriema S. Hines, 25, of Linden was arrested on a contempt of court warrant out of Union Township. Hines was processed and transported to Union Township Police Headquarters where custody was transferred to their officers.

On July 19: Luigie X. Castillo, 25, of Newark was arrested on three contempt of court warrants from East Orange, Jersey City and Summit. Castillo was able to post bail and was released with upcoming court dates.

On July 19: Piotr D. Glier, 25, of Linden was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension by providing false information. Glier was processed and released with a pending court date.

On July 20: Jose M. Diaz, 41, of Bayonne, was arrested on two contempt of court warrants out of West New York and Jersey City. Diaz was processed and released with pending court dates.
