New Detective On The Beat In Summit

SUMMIT, NJ – Officer Brian Werthmann is trading in his uniform for plainclothes as the officer is now a member of the Detective Bureau at the Summit Police Department.

“Detective Werthmann brings a commitment to excellence to his work in the Detective Bureau,” said Summit Police Chief Robert Weck. “He is a dedicated investigator and a valued addition to our outstanding Detective Bureau team.”

Detective Werthmann joined the Summit Police Department in July 2000 and has been actively involved with the Patrol Bureau as a member of its bike team and as a field training officer and Officer-in-Charge.

In addition to his work within the department, Detective Werthmann has participated in the Police Unity Tour and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics.

After attending the Ocean County Police Academy and graduating at the top of his class for Firearms, Detective Werthmann was employed by the Belmar Police Department as both a Special I and Special II Officer and by the Brielle Police Department as a Special II Officer.

He attended Ocean County College and Rutgers University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree.
