SUMMIT, NJ — Authorities in two states are searching for a 24-year-old New Jersey man who was last seen two weeks ago leaving his Summit home and is in danger of taking his own life, according to police.
Brandon Gomes left his home on Oct. 2 in his mother's car, authorities said. After leaving, police said Gomes sent a friend a text message saying that he "wanted to end his life in nature."
Five days later, cell phone pings showed he had traveled to San Ysidro in Sandoval County, New Mexico, according to police. Authorities said police later found his abandoned car at a Holiday Inn in Albuquerque, about 40 miles from his last known location. According to police, Gomes stayed at the hotel and checked out on Oct. 6.
