UNION, NJ — Drivers should expect overnight lane closures on Thursday, Friday and Monday on Route 82/Morris Avenue in Union due to a gas main replacement, according to New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).

Work will be conducted between 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday, and again overnight on Friday, June 22 and Monday, June 25, between Suburban Road and Midland Boulevard.

Elizabethtown Gas contractor Penn Bower, Inc., is scheduled to shift traffic on Route 82 in both directions.

Each night, the contractor will first close the left lanes in both directions shifting traffic to the curb line. The contractor will then close the right lanes, shifting traffic back to the center lanes in both directions. The traffic shifts are necessary to allow the gas company to install a new gas main. At least one lane in both directions will be maintained at all times, NJDOT reports.

For more information on the gas main replacement, reach out to Elizabethtown Gas.
