Patriotic Mural Proposed For Downtown Summit
Residents appeal to Police Chief Chief Robert Weck for help finding a spot.

SUMMIT, NJ - An artists rendering of Old Glory could adorn a wall in downtown Summit if a group of residents have their way. According to Summit Police Chief Robert Weck he has been asked to assist in finding a location for a patriotic mural and he is happy to answer the call.
“For the past decade, volunteers have worked with the City of Summit to procure relevant and culturally interesting art installations to enhance the landscape of our community,” said Chief Weck. “I appreciate that this group of residents came up with the mural idea and asked me to join them in this worthwhile project. I look forward to working with the committee and with others that may want to be involved. It is a great way to demonstrate our patriotic pride within the City of Summit.”
Murals are a recent manifestation of Summit’s commitment to public art with a mural depicting historic Summit funded by Summit Downtown Inc. on a wall adjacent to Union Place off Summit Avenue. Members of the community, including local artists, businesses and students will be invited to provide input in the development of the new community asset.
