Pebble Players Youth Theater celebrates 10 Years
Pebble Players Youth Theater celebrates it's 10th year providing kids ages 8 to 18 repertory theater experience.

Celebrating their 10th season, Pebble Players has been entertaining Summit residents and audiences from surrounding towns with sophisticated off-broadway quality performances. The 2018 Season opens with Heathers, The Musical High School Edition directed by Jayne Myers and choreographed by Jaimie Woodruff. As the youth division for Stony Hill Players, Pebble provides a fast paced, true repertory theater experience for New Jersey's most musically talented youth actors. "Kids have plenty of places to take voice, dance, and acting classes, but we wanted to provide them a place to apply the skills they've learned by performing on stage," says Jayne Myers, Director and President of Stony Hill Players/Pebble Players Youth Theater. Myers and her team have been producing sold out performances since 2008 beginning with Annie, and twenty shows later, they are opening their 10th season with it's first "edgy" show, HEATHERS, The Musical High School Edition based on the 1988 cult film HEATHERS starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater . The story is about a girl named Veronica, a high school girl plucked from nothingness by the ultimate vicious clique of the three Heathers: Heather Chandler, Heather Duke , and Heather McNamara. When mysterious new kid JD arrives, he and Veronica team up to put an end to their bullying—at whatever the cost. “They have been requesting to perform in this show, since it opened off-broadway in 2014, as the story takes place in a high school and deals with difficult social issues very close to home for them," states Myers. The musical is written by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy and while the topics are serious, this new rock and roll show entertains using clever dark humor keeping audiences engaged until the last note is played. HEATHERS, The Musical High School Edition has been edited for younger audiences, which definitely cuts out a lot of the sexual subject matter, however, the suggested age to purchase tickets is 12 years old and up due to its mature content. Tickets are available to purchase online at www.stonyhillplayers.org. Show dates are November 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 18 (Friday and Saturday evenings are 7:30pm and Sundays are 2pm Matinees).
