SAGE Eldercare Celebrates 70 years of Service and Volunteerism

Thanking all our Volunteers

Summit, NJ - As SAGE Eldercare marks its 70th anniversary, the organization honored its dedicated volunteers at the annual luncheon on May 2nd. With over 300 volunteers annually, SAGE continues to make a profound impact on the lives of older adults in our community. From assisting with the Spend-A-Day program to delivering Meals on Wheels and providing support in various capacities, these volunteers embody the spirit of service that is integral to SAGE's mission.

"Volunteers are the heart and soul of SAGE Eldercare, playing a vital role in our commitment to ensuring the safety and independence of older adults and supporting their families and caregivers," stated Galina Muller, Executive Director of SAGE. "We are immensely grateful for their dedication and the generous sponsorship of today's luncheon by PNC Private Bank."

The luncheon, generously sponsored by PNC Private Bank, provided an opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of volunteers. PNC Private Bank representative Robert Pettit, alongside SAGE Executive Director Galina Muller, expressed their gratitude for the selfless efforts of these individuals.

All of our volunteers are champions for our older neighbors, Muller emphasized, whether it is delivering Meals on Wheels to combat loneliness, restoring family heirlooms at the Furniture Workshop, or providing companionship through Spend-A-Day, each act of kindness resonates deeply within our community. This year the Ben Zukoff Outstanding Youth Award was awarded to Sutton Carpenter for his ongoing, fantastic contribution to the “Make a Senior Smile” program, first initiated in 2021. Sutton’s father Brian took receipt of the award in Sutton’s absence.

As SAGE looks ahead to its next chapter, the organization remains committed to its mission of enriching the lives of older adults. To learn more about volunteer opportunities at SAGE, please contact 908.598.5514 or email tkaniuk@sageeldercare.org.
