Series Of October Thefts Top $70K In Summit: Police

Stolen license plates, cell phones and a 2019 Dodge Durango SRT8 were reported taken this month.

SUMMIT, NJ - A 2019 Dodge Durango STRT8 valued at $68,000 was stolent from a parking lot on Oct. 15, according to the Summit Police Department. The victim reported the vehicle was stolen from a business on Broad Street, police said. The victim relayed the vehicle had only one set of keys, which were in possession of the business, police said.

In other police news:

  • On Oct. 10 Summit Police were called in to investigate a theft of cash from a business on Hobart Avenue. The victim reported a purse was taken with between $250-$500 in cash.
  • Oct. 10 saw the Summit Police respond to the report of stolen cell phone from a business on Hobart Avenue. The cell phone had been left in an upstairs office and was described as a black Apple iPhone 7 in a silver case, police said. Total value of the cell phone at the time of the report was approximately $575.
  • Also on Oct. 10 Summit Police took a report on a set of stolen license plates. The victim reported the incident possibly occurred back in February when the victim’s vehicle was towed and impounded. On this date, there was an additional set of license plates in the vehicle which have since gone missing. The license plates were entered stolen with an unknown value at the time of the report.
  • On Oct. 12 Summit Police were called to a business on Woodland Avenue to investigate the theft of a cash register and cash. The victim reported that the area where the cash registered was located had been secured and there were no signs of forced entry. The cash register was described as a black Casio SE-5700 with an unknown value and contained approximately $5 in miscellaneous change denominations.
  • On Oct. 15 Summit Police responded to an office on Beauvoir Avenue to investigate a stolen cell phone. The victim reported cell phone as an

  • On Oct. 16 Summit Police took a report for a theft from an unsecured motor vehicle on Briant Parkway. aken from the unsecured vehicle was approximately $10 in miscellaneous change denominations.
  • Oct 16 saw the Summit Police respond to a second theft from an unsecured motor vehicle on Briant Parkway. The victim said approximately $3 in loose change was stolen.
  • Also on Oct. 16 Summit Police responded to a report of theft from an unsecured motor vehicle on Clark Street. The victim reported taken from the vehicle was an HP laptop, laptop charger and approximately $2 in loose change. Total value of the stolen items was approximately $502.
