Stop waiting for tomorrow and take action today! For the new year, the Summit Area YMCA is pleased to bring you new programs, new fitness equipment, and new classes to make your fitness experience better than ever! Even more exciting, we have put together seven tips to help you be the best YOU in 2019 and bring those goals to fruition.

GOAL 1: Make 2019 YOUR YEAR FOR STARTING OUT ON THE RIGHT FOOT On day one of the new year (or the eve before) members can come to the Summit Area YMCA for a New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day workout. At both branches, we will be offering special holiday schedules that include many favorite fitness classes like Body Pump, Yoga, Rowing, Cycling and many more. In addition to classes, our facilities and equipment will be open and available for use during the New Year holiday..
GOAL 2: Make 2019 YOUR YEAR OF POWER & STRENGTH. At the Y, we offer high intensity classes so you can push yourself harder than ever, and take your conditioning to the next level -- building lean muscle, while getting into great shape. Consider Les Mills Body Pump & CXWORK, Martial Arts & Combat, Primal Fitness, Strong, Barre Sculpt, TRX and many, many more…

GOAL 3: Make 2019 YOUR YEAR OF ENDURANCE. With invigorating music, a fun atmosphere and a bike, indoor cycling is an intense full body workout where you can not only ride for miles and miles but burn up to 900 calories per class. Or challenge yourself with one of our cardio programs designed to get your heart pumping
GOAL 4. Make 2019 YOUR YEAR OF BALANCE, FLEXIBILITY AND INNER PEACE. Connect your spirit, mind and body with Yoga, Meditation, Barre Sculpt and Pilates. Through mindfulness and multiple controlled movements, you will improve your flexibility, strength and balance.
GOAL 5: Make 2019 YOUR YEAR OF FUN! Learn the steps to popular Bollywood (Hindi film) moves, or shake your hips and burn lots of calories in Zumba! Dancing is a great way to have fun and let off steam all while being social. The Summit Area YMCA offers dance classes for people of all fitness levels with a wide range of both mind and body benefits! You don’t have to know how to dance, all experience levels welcome!
GOAL 6: MAKE 2019 YOUR YEAR OF TAKING ON NEW CHALLENGES. Sign up for the January Burpee Challenge at the Summit YMCA! With every rep, you'll work your arms, chest, quads, glutes, hamstrings, and abs. While there’s no doubt it will be difficult, we think you can rock this! There's also January Jumpstart, a six-week program where you can get fit, earn points and win prizes. Stay tuned for more monthly challenges throughout the year!
GOAL 7: MAKE 2019 YOUR YEAR OF NEW BEGINNINGS January brings new Intro classes in Cycling, Yoga and Fitness to the Berkeley Heights YMCA along with additional evening and early morning class times. At the Summit YMCA, you can look forward to new state-of-the-art fitness equipment to try, new classes, new schedules and so much more.
