June, 2023 – 120 golfers participated in Bunk’s XVIIth Annual Golf Tournament to raise funds for the Summit based organization, Student/Partner Alliance (S/PA). The mission of S/PA is to support motivated high school students at private high schools in New Jersey’s urban areas of Essex, Hudson and Union counties with tuition assistance and mentoring to increase their chances for college admission and scholarships, and ultimately to lead successful and productive lives.
The tournament took place on June 12, 2023 at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, NJ and was organized and hosted by S/PA Board Member Bruce Reitz. This year’s tournament raised a record amount of over $60,000 to provide scholarships for students at Immaculate Conception, a Montclair based, parochial high school. Since starting in 2007, the golf events have raised over $500,000. Lead tournament sponsors included Emmett (Board President) & Regina Daly, Vivian & Robert Field, Reich and Tang and Christine Waldron (Board Member). The tournament winners were Tom Mulligan (Board Member), Doug Hobby, Brian Hobby, and Matt McBride.
This year many local NJ businesses supported the mission by donating a variety of generous raffle prizes. Donors from Summit, Chatham and Madison included; The Meat House, Harquail Brothers, John Hyatt, Faux Paws, Winberries, Bake Bakery, Sweet Nothings, Great House, Stretch Lab, Summit Health Shoppe, Chatham Indoor Golf Club, Centercourt, La Rosa, Healthy Italia and F45 Fitness. Other raffle prize donors included ShopRite, Smathers & Branson, NY Giants, NY Jets and NY Red Bulls.
