Summit art exhibit features work of 5 Oak Knoll School artists
The artwork will be displayed at the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New Jersey office in Summit from May 19 through June 30.
Five Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child seniors will be among several from area high schools whose work will be recognized as part of the “Rising Talents” art show by the Talis Gallery.
The artwork will be displayed at the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New Jersey office in Summit beginning with an opening reception on Thursday, May 19, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The show will run through June 30.
Artwork will also be featured by students from Delbarton, Kent Place, Oratory Prep, Pingry and Summit High School. The show is being sponsored by the Summit Art Advisory.

Selections from Oak Knoll artists include a grayscale collage entitled “Ukulele,” by Maggie Burd ’16, of Morristown; portrait sketches entitled “Line Drawings,” by Cassandra Orsi ’16, of Montville; fashion design entitled “The Eccentrics,” by Claire Szpunar ’16, of Chester; a pencil rendering called “Stones,” by Julia Watt ’16, of Essex Fells; and a geometrical watercolor entitled “Inside Outside,” by Hayla Yanes ’16, of East Orange.
Julia’s Watt’s piece, entitled “Stones,” also won second place in this year’s duCret School of Art High School Exhibition; while Maggie Burd’s collage entitled “Ukulele” won Honorable Mention last year.

Will Cardell, Upper School creative arts teacher, said the opportunity to showcase student talents beyond the Oak Knoll community is a gratifying one.
“The upcoming show is one such opportunity, and we all look forward to this collaboration with the other participating schools,” Cardell said.
