SUMMIT, NJ - Firefighter Thomas Penn spent last Saturday climbing 27 stories in his gear as part of an annual benefit for the American Lung Association.

According to their website, one of the American Lung Association's signature fundraising events, Fight For Air Climbs are stair climbs held in prominent skyscrapers around the country. Climbers join friends, family, co-workers or even fly solo, climbing the stairs of the building to the top.

Over the last several years, Fight For Air Climbs have raised more than $53 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association.

Penn participated in the Fight for Air Climb in Newark wearing full protective gear. Penn climbed 27 stories, completing 504 steps in 6:08. Overall, the Fight for Air Climb raised in Newark raised$95,000 for the American Lung Association.
