Summit Firehouse Opening Its Doors Sunday

SUMMIT, NJ - Fire Prevention Week ends in style this Sunday in Summit as the Fire Department is holding an open house with food, drinks and fire safety demonstrations.

The event is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the firehouse located at 396 Broad Street in Summit. The family-friendly event will focus on the theme from this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign: “Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire can happen anywhere.” Crews will participate in demonstrations of fire department tactics and operations. Plans for the new fire headquarters will also be on display.

Participating groups include the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad, Department of Community Programs, TryCan Program, Department of Community Services, City Communications Office, Sheriff’s ID Unit, Celgene Corporation and New Jersey American Water.

Refreshments will be provided and are sponsored by Atlantic Health Systems.
