Summit Investigating Car Buglaries

The Summit Police are investigating a number of burglaries to motor vehicles which occurred sometime during the late evening hours of 9/17/14 into the early morning hours of 9/18/14.

In total 28 vehicles were unlawfully entered. The targeted vehicles were parked in the driveways of residential homes located in the north section of the city; specifically Beehwood Road, Canoe Brook Parkway, Fernwood Road, Hawthorne Place, Karen Way, Oxbow Lane, Shadyside Avenue and Wildwood Lane.

Of the 28 vehicles entered, items were reported stolen from 11 of the vehicles. The stolen items included cash, credit cards, handbags, sunglasses and electronic devices. All of the vehicles had been parked unlocked.

The Summit Police Department strenuously urges residents to lock their car doors and to refrain from leaving valuables in open view.
