Summit Library Director to Retire

The Board of Trustees of the Summit Free Public Library has announced that Library Director Susan Permahos will be retiring in April 2022. Permahos has served as Director since 2013. During that time the Library undertook several building renovations, updated many standard Library systems, increased programming and services and found ways to provide Library service throughout the covid pandemic. Many of the innovations that came about during the pandemic such as virtual programming will remain long after the pandemic has ended.

The Board of Trustees has begun a search for a new Library Director and are seeking input from Library patrons and community residents. Toward that end, the Board has created a brief survey consisting of three short questions that can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SummitFPL . For those who prefer to respond on paper, there are paper surveys available at the Library. The Board looks forward to hearing the suggestions and observations of the community. The Summit Library is located at 75 Maple Street, Summit. The Library is open Monday – Thursday 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 – 5:00 pm. The Library website, catalog and online databases and eBooks are available 24 hours a day.
