Summit Mayor Nora Radest and NJ Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz Attend Christ Child Society of Summit Blankets for Babies Day

Summit Mayor and NJ Assemblywoman attend Christ Child Society Blankets for Babies benefitting Overlook and Morristown newborn babies

Christ Child Society of Summit recently hosted their 5th annual Blankets for Babies Day. The event was attended by more than 150 student and adult volunteers, and over 275 blankets were completed. Blankets for Babies is a day of cutting, pinning and sewing to produce wonderfully cozy fleece baby blankets that are included layettes. The Christ Child Society of Summit provides layettes to local hospitals to be distributed to newborns in need. This year’s goal is to provide 350 layettes to the free pediatric clinics of the area hospitals, with a blanket in each.

To date the Christ Child Society in Summit has provided layettes to over 1,500 newborn babies in our community. The layettes are packed full with necessary items to get a newborn started in life, and include onesies, pajamas, outfits, hand knit sweaters & hats, receiving blankets, and a handmade fleece blanket. The Blankets for Babies project is made possible by a very generous grant from the Summit Elks Lodge #1246.
