Summit 'Meets Expectations' In PARCC Assessment

District numbers released show Summit scoring level four in most categories.

SUMMIT, NJ - On average, the Summit School District has met expectations in terms of the district-by-district, school-by-school PARCC results released this week.

Patch put together the rankings, from top to bottom, for each grade (high school math was broken into Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II). You can see the complete ranking of every school here.

Many districts in New Jersey performed in the "Level 4" and "Level 5" areas, which is between the scores of 750 and 850, the latter being a perfect score. The score breakdowns are as follows:

Level 1 (650-700): Did Not Yet Meet Expectations
Level 2 (700-725): Partially Met Expectations
Level 3 (725-750): Approached Expectations
Level 4 (750-799): Met Expectations
Level 5 (800-850): Exceeded Expectations

In third grade English Summit ranked 25 with a score of 783. In fourth grade English the district ranked 16 with a 791. Fifth grade English the district ranked 13 with a 788 score. Sixth grade English saw Summit ranked at 74 with a 774. Seventh grade English saw Summit ranked 42 with a 788 score. Eighth grade English had Summit ranked at 99 with a 779 score. Ninth grade English saw Summit ranked 73 with a 773 score. Tenth grade English brought a 19 ranking and a 783 score. Eleventh grade English saw Summit at 37 with a 754 score. Twelfth grade English had Summit at 37 with a 754 score.

In third grade math Summit ranked 57 with a 774 score. In fourth grade math Summit ranked 70 with a 767 score. In fifth grade math Summit ranked 25 with a 774 score. In sixth grade math Summit ranked 99 with a 758 score. In seventh grade math Summit ranked 38 with a 765 score. In eighth grade math Summit ranked 111 with a 742 score.

In Algebra I Summit ranked 157 with a 771. In Geometry Summit ranked 32 with a 760 score. In Algebra II Summit cracked the top 10 at number 10 with a score of 775.

The PARCC tests have been a source of controversy for years, and Gov. Phil Murphy has talked for nearly year about finding replacements for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers test.

Patch focused on town school districts, charter, vocational and magnet schools. Please note that many students opted out of taking the exam, though New Jersey hasn't said how many.
