Summit Micro-Surfacing Project To Begin Earlier

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit City will begin its roads micro-surfacing project one day earlier now staring on Monday, Aug. 27 and continuing through Aug. 31, weather permitting.

During the micro-surfacing process, access to driveways will be prohibited until the application is dry. Residents should park on neighboring side streets before 7 a.m.

Following is the amended schedule:

  • Monday, Aug. 27: Norwood Avenue, Brayton School and Jefferson School
  • Tuesday, Aug. 28: Milton Avenue, Cottage Lane, Johanna Way, West Lane and Rotary Lane
  • Wednesday, Aug. 29: Dale Drive and Rotary Drive
  • Thursday, Aug. 30: Gloucester Road, Canterbury Lane, Weaver Street, Sheridan Road, School Avenue and Fremont Road

Micro-surfacing is a cost efficient surface treatment to renew a road surface and extend the life of the pavement. During the process, a layer of asphalt emulsion is blended with finely crushed stone for traction to protect the pavement from moisture penetration and oxidation, according to Summit City.

Emergency vehicles will be provided access to roads during the resurfacing process.
