Summit Officers Honored For 25 Years Of Service
Sgt. Ron Martin and Officer Lou Lyons were both recognized for their dedicated service to Summit City.

SUMMIT, NJ — Two Summit police officers were recognized for serving the city for more than 25 years.
Sgt. Ron Martin was hired as a patrol officer in April 1992 and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in September 2007.
Martin has served as Summit Police Honor Guard coordinator, assignment to the Community Policing Unit and a Patrol Supervisor, host of HomeTowne TVs "Off the Cuff," and Summit Police's chaplin.

He was awarded the Exceptional Duty Award, Chiefs Meritorious Service Award (twice) and the Chiefs Meritorious Award-Unit Citation.
Martin had also served four years with the US Navy from 1985 to 1989 and was awarded the Navy Chaplin’s Award, the Battle “E” Ribbon in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (three times), the Golden “C” Communications Award and the Good Conduct Medal.

Officer Lou Lyons was hired as a Patrol Officer in June 1992 and has served as Summit PBA Local 55 President and Vice President and as an SPD Firearms Instructor.
Lyons was awarded the Exceptional Duty Award, Honorable Service Award (three times), Chiefs Meritorious Award-Unit Citation (twice) and the Good Samaritan Award.
He served four years with the US Marine Corps from 1986 to 1990 with an honorable discharge at the rank of Corporal and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Good Conduct Award, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (twice), the Expert Rifleman Badge, the Expert Pistol Badge and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
