Summit Police Officer Returns To Duty After Battling Severe Injuries From Crash
Following a two-year recovery from injuries sustained during a car collision, the Summit officer will return to the police force on Monday.

SUMMIT, NJ — After spending almost two years recovering from serious work-related injuries, Summit Police Department Officer Anthony Pyzik will return to the force on Monday.
Pyzik was on patrol April 21 of 2020 when his car was hit head-on by a person driving a stolen motor vehicle. Almost two years later, Pyzik is returning to duty and a welcome back reception will be held at the Summit Police Station at 10 a.m. on Monday.
After the collision, Pyzik was terribly injured and had to endure seven major surgery to repair his femur, as well as treat hip and wrist fractures and multiple spinal nerve-block injections. He also went through many months of physical therapy.

“After almost two years, I am extremely thankful to be able to return to duty,” Pyzik said. “While I will be assigned to light duty for the time being, my long-term goal is to be back on patrol and continue work with the detective bureau. I will ease into that.”
Acting Chief Steven Zagorski said he admires Pyzik's commitment to a full recovery and looks forward to welcoming him back.
