Summit Preschool Lottery Open

Applications for 2019-2020 school year due Jan. 16.

SUMMIT, NJ - Another chance to feel like a Powerball winner as the Summit School District has opened its preschool lottery through Jan. 16.

Applications for the 2019-2020 Preschool Program are available online and may also be obtained in person at the Primary Centers and at the Office of Special Services during school hours. Applicants must be residents of Summit and be at least three years old and toilet trained by Oct. 1, 2019.

Students will be selected for this program by lottery. Preschool classes may include both three and four-year-old children at both Jefferson and Wilson Primary Centers. Classes will meet five days per week, Monday through Friday, except for one Friday per month which will be determined at a later date.

The morning session is from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session is from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The tuition is $3,875 per year. For those who qualify for reduced lunch according to U.S. government guidelines, tuition will be $1,162.50 and for those who qualify for free lunch, tuition will be $387.50 per year.

All applications must be returned to the Primary Centers no later than 4 p.m. on Jan. 16. The lottery drawing will be held at the Board of Education offices on Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. Special education students are included in the Preschool Program as determined by the District Child Study Team.
