SHS students in the Audio Engineering and Digital Music Production class visited Backroom Studios in Rockaway, NJ and spent the day experiencing the inner-workings of a professional recording studio!

Working under the direction of owner and recording engineer Kevin Antreassian, SHS students learned about all aspects of the music production business including recording, mixing, editing, and mastering music, as well as the science behind audio engineering and its potential towards future career pathways. The day involved hands-on learning experiences regarding how to properly mic instruments, setting up a recording session using Pro Tools, Melodyne, and utilizing other industry standard equipment and software. Several student musicians were able to perform on drums, voice, and guitar and experience the process of a professional recording session firsthand! Upon returning to SHS, the students were able to put what they learned into action by setting up their own recording sessions within SHS's brand new Wenger SoundLok studio, generously funded by the Summit Educational Foundation. This field trip was made possible due to the generous financial support of the Summit Music Parents Association (SMPA).
