UPDATED Summit Teen, High School Sophomore Passes Away
'We ask that you respect our privacy and let us grieve,' said the head of the school.
SUMMIT, NJ — A local teenager from Summit, a 16-year-old female sophomore at Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, passed away on Thursday, a school representative confirmed Friday. The Catholic school serves 504 kids in preK4 through 12th grade, and is girls-only from seventh through 12th grade.
On Friday, Head of School Timothy J. Saburn said, “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our community and the family. We ask that you respect our privacy and let us grieve collectively as a community.”
The school had no further comment and did not post information on their web pages Friday.

According to a story in TAPinto, the superintendent of the Summit public schools sent a letter to district parents on Thursday about the district offering support services to the local Catholic school. The story said that the letter was posted to Facebook for a time, then removed.
Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, founded in 1924, enrolls students from Summit, Berkeley Heights, Millburn, Westfield, and other local towns.
