Summit Residents March For Racial Justice

Demonstrations supporting Black Lives Matter have been held around Union County.

SUMMIT, NJ – Nearly a month after more than 1,000 Summit residents held a demonstration for racial justice — one of many held throughout New Jersey after the death of George Floyd —a smaller march was held over the weekend, still drawing a crowd.

The first large Summit protest was held at Summit Middle School on June 2 in the wake of the Death of George Floyd, who was killed in Minneapolis on Memorial Day. Four Minneapolis police officers have been criminally charged in connection with Floyd's death, and protests have taken place around Union County and the country.
