Summit Seeks Gift Cards For Unpaid Coast Guard Members

Through Jan. 31 the Summit Fire Department will be collecting cards to help those impacted by the partial government shut down.

SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit is asking for help in assisting the dedicated men and women of the US Coast Guard and their families who are not receiving paychecks during the partial government shut down by participating in a gift card drive.

Now through Jan. 31, the Summit Fire Department and Summit Firefighters Local FMBA 54 will be accepting gift cards of $20 or less. Coast Guard support representatives recommend gift cards from gas stations, Walmart, Stop & Shop and Shop Rite grocery stores, and pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens.

Donations can be dropped off at the Summit Fire Department on 396 Broad Street at any time.
