Summit Shutting Down West End Avenue Saturday
Traffic will be diverted from 7:30 a.m. through 4:45 p.m.

SUMMIT, NJ - West End Avenue between Passaic Avenue and New Providence Road will be closed to all through traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. during the hours of operation for the Municipal Transfer Station on New Providence Road., according to Amy Cairns, Chief Communication Officer in the City of Summit.
Barricades with local traffic signage will be placed at each end of West End Avenue and a traffic control officer will be present.
“This change results from multi-year analysis of traffic volume and safety concerns on this section of West End Avenue,” said Summit Police Chief Robert Weck. “It is an example using ‘outside of the box’ thinking to help limit roadway use to individuals that reside on the street and forcing others to the signal controlled intersection.”
