A committed Hilltopper, she shared how happy it makes her when students are involved and enthusiastic about Summit.

Athletics are important to Jane; she participates in both dance and lacrosse. Dance takes up a lot of her time, as she dances 15 hours a week. She is also an assistant teacher at the Summit School of Dance. For the past ten years she has honed her craft and enjoys jazz, tap, lyrical, pointe, ballet, and hip hop. Jane has also played lacrosse since first grade, and was Captain of the JV team. She is excited for this spring season with her teammates and coaches.

Jane has volunteered her time to the Operation Smile Club all four years of high school and has been a Board member for the past three. The club hosts the Styles for Smiles Fashion Show event which raises money through bake sales and other endeavors. “I believe in helping others. This organization helps kids with cleft palates and other facial deformities. They truly change lives!”

For the fourth year, Jane is a member of the Journalism class and this year holds the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Verve. In this role she will oversee about 30 student members. “My two older siblings were involved in the Verve which sparked my interest. I follow the news, on both local and global issues,” said Jane. Her goal this year is to include deeper pieces in the Verve, that will provoke thinking and discussion amongst readers.

Jane likes all academic subjects yet has a penchant for math and science. She really enjoyed biology, chemistry and physics; this year she is taking AP physics in addition to other AP courses. Her advice to fellow students is to, “Challenge yourself, or you won’t know what you are capable of.” Jane plans to continue to follow her own advice in the future, going to college and having a successful career. Leadership is one of Jane’s best qualities, and she likes to positively encourage people. Her friendly, outgoing nature is welcoming and comforting to others, both in and out of school.

Jane has three siblings, Tommy, Anna, and Chris. With her sister Anna, Jane started a company called BlackWhitePink that creates stationary using photos that they each have taken. They donate their proceeds to local breast cancer organizations. The sisters want to help patients who do not have the funds for proper healthcare when battling this difficult disease. Clearly, Jane is making a difference now, and will continue to in the future.
