Summit Symphony Family Concert, 10/9, new time 2pm
For the first time in several years, the Summit Symphony Orchestra will be offering a Family Concert to start off the 2016-17 season. The concert will be performed on Sunday, October 9 at 2pm (earlier than the usual start time) at the Summit Middle School, located on the corner of Summit and Morris Ave. The concert “The Orchestra Grows Up” will be under the direction of Musical Director, Michael Avagliano.
“The Orchestra Grows Up” will show both the change in size of the orchestra, from a small “chamber” group with “Spring” from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, the earliest piece on this concert, written in 1723, through Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Bizet, Stravinsky and finally a full sized modern orchestra playing the “Hoe Down” from Copland’s Rodeo, written in 1942.
