Summit Teachers Ramping Up For New School Year

Summit Educator Training sets the tone for the 2019-2020 school year.

SUMMIT, NJ - Like it or not, we are less than a month away from the start of school and the Summit School District is already preparing with Summit Educator training.

Part of the trainings include the partnerships with the Summit Free Public Library. Their Head of Youth Services, Ann-Marie Aymer, visited new staff during Summit Educator Training to talk about many spectacular resources available to them and their students this year, organizers said.

Now before you head back into summer mode you might want to take note of some important dates for the upcoming school year:

  • First day of school: Sept. 3
  • Rosh Hashanah: Sept. 30
  • Yom Kippur: Oct. 9
  • Single Session: Oct. 28
  • Single Session: Nov. 4
  • Conference/No School: Nov. 5
  • Single Session: Nov. 6
  • No School/NJEA Conference: Nov. 7-8
  • Thanksgiving break: Single Session Nov. 27, off Nov. 28-29
  • Winter break: Dec. 23 to Jan. 1
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day, school closed: Jan. 20
  • Single Session: Jan. 31
  • Single Session: Feb. 3
  • President's Day, school closed: Feb. 17, Feb. 18
  • Spring break: April 6-10
  • Memorial Day, school closed: May 25
  • Single Session/Last Day of School: June 22

Noting these dates are good way to prepare for going back to school. But don't forget the school supplies.
