Summit's Robot Revolution Team Earns 2nd Place In World Championship

The middle school team place second out of 750 teams in the championship in Dallas, Texas.

SUMMIT, NJ — Robot Revolution's middle school team, 4610K, was a finalist at the VEX World Championship on May 12.

Based out of Summit, Robot Revolution is an after-school robotics program that started the entire VEX IQ robotics program for New Jersey. Not only did the middle school team came in second out of 750 teams, but they also won their division, won their last 10 matches in a row and came within 10 points of winning the world's largest robotic competition.

The 8th grade students traveled to Dallas, Texas for the three-day event. The four team members are from Summit, Millburn and Chatham.

Robot Revolution's high school team also excelled at the competition. The team of seniors went a perfect 10-0 in qualification matches, while the junior/sophomore team won the NJ State excellence award and placed 17th out of over 4000 teams in the skills event.

Overall, Robot Revolution sent 9 teams with students in grades 4-12 to the World Championship.

This is the second year in a row that Robot Revolution has taken home trophies at worlds. In 2021, the high school team 4610S won an Innovate award for their robot design. This brings the total number of worlds awards for Robot Revolution to seven.

Robot Revolution teaches students in grades 3-12 how to build, program and get involved in competitive robotics. It is the largest program of its kind in the country and is celebrating its 10th anniversary in August.

Students from Robot Revolution worlds teams represent Chatham, Livingston, Millburn, New Providence, South Orange, Summit and Union County schools.
