Supplying local families with eco-friendly detergent

GRACE provides assistance for food and essentials to over 500 local families every week in Summit, NJ, but there is one need that has not been met yet, and it’s especially important as kids are back in school and work is back in person. There is a need for clean laundry. No kid should go to school hungry and in dirty clothes, and local teachers have noted that lack of access to clean laundry is a leading cause of truancy for our neighbors most in need. Laundry detergent is also the number one requested item that GRACE cannot afford to offer frequently.

As a volunteer run nonprofit with a mission to make sure every person is healthy, happy and secure by having access to the food and essentials they need to thrive, GRACE partners with local community members to provide. And GRACE listens. When someone comes to GRACE with a need, volunteers make sure they ask the right questions to ensure they are provided with culturally relevant and fresh food, and the access they need to thrive through turbulent times. Families have asked for laundry detergent, and a local sustainable solution felt like the best option. Sustainable Haus in Summit makes a clean and eco-friendly laundry detergent that goes a long way with clean ingredients.

For every $20 donated, Sustainable Haus will match $10 and package the product in a cost effective and user-friendly way, customized for GRACE families. With this partnership, it costs just $.13 per load of laundry. A donation of $5 provides 1 family with 40 loads of laundry detergent, while $2,500 provides 500+ families with enough detergent to get through the end of the year. About GRACE –

Since 2016 GRACE has been Giving & Receiving Assistance for our Community’s Essentials. As a volunteer run 501(c)3 non-profit organization, GRACE meets community needs with community resources to enable the good health and success of our vulnerable and underserved neighbors by distributing culturally relevant fresh food and supplies, including milk, bread, eggs and produce, toilet paper, diapers and wipes, and period products every Thursday evening in Summit, NJ, while providing access and referrals to community support services.
