Take an Art Walk with Summit Public Art on Sept. 17th

Join Summit Public Art on Sunday, September 17th for free guided art tours of all the latest public artworks on display downtown and on the Green!

Tours will start at 11:00am and 2:00pm and will meet at the Summit Public Art table (near Beechwood Rd. and Springfield Ave.) as part of the Arts & Cars: Downtown Art Festival and Classic Car Show to be held in downtown Summit between 10:00 and 4:00pm. These guided art walks are free and open to all ages. In addition to the tours, SPA will also be hosting interactive games for families and passing out maps highlighting the many public artworks around town.

Tour highlights include DeWitt Godfrey's "Louis," a towering hive-like structure that invites visitors inside to admire an interior dome that opens to the sky; Carolyn Salas' "Tippy Toes," a graceful, sophisticated sculpture originally commissioned for the US Open tennis tournament in Forest Hills, NY; Charlie Spademan's "Surface Tension," a mind-bending sculpture that appears to show an anvil balancing on top of a balloon; and Dale Rogers' "Mama Bear and Cub," two life-size sculptures that have already become popular favorites among Summit families. The tours will visit more than a dozen public artworks downtown and on the Green and will share stories about the artists and the inspiration behind their works.
