Trespasser Killed By NJ Transit Train In Union County

ELIZABETH, NJ — A trespasser was fatally stuck by an NJ Transit train late Saturday night near the Elizabeth station, officials report.

The trespasser was hit around 11:20 p.m. by a Northeast Corridor train number 7883 that left from New York Penn Station at 10:57 p.m. and was heading to Trenton, NJ Transit Spokesman Jim Smith said.

There were no reported injuries to the approximately 600 customers or crew on board the train, Smith said.

Services were briefly suspended and has since reopened. NJ Transit police are leading the investigation.

There has been no identification made on the trespasser yet.
