Van Crashes Into Summit Creek, Driver Hospitalized

The driver stopped in a parking lot for a break only to wake up to the van driving into the creek on Friday.

SUMMIT, NJ — A van ended up in a creek in Summit and the driver was hospitalized on Friday.

A man in his late 70's stopped the van in the parking lot of Summit's Municipal Golf course on Friday for a break. He woke up to find the van driving into the culvert that runs from the pond to the Passaic River, according to John Staunton, Summit Volunteer EMS.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the call at 10:53 a.m.

The driver was the only occupant in the van and he was treated for injuries and transported to Morristown Medical Center by Summit Volunteer EMS.

A paramedic unit from Atlantic Health (Overlook) also responded and accompanied Summit EMS ambulance crew on the trip to Morristown.
