The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey to Host Sculpture Making and Dance Event
Art Afternoon: Family Sculpture Day and Ballet in the Gallery

On Sunday, October 16 at 2:00 pm, the Art Center will host a family sculpture and dance event open to all ages. Guests can view the current exhibitions and make a variety of sculpture projects, led by teaching artists in several studios. Docents will be present in the galleries to answer questions.
At 2:45 and 3:30 pm there will be exclusive performances of Immovable, a new ballet choreographed by
Julia K. Gleich and created in collaboration with fall exhibiting artist, Rachel Beach, in the Main Gallery.

About Julia K. Gleich
Julia K Gleich is a NYC and London-based choreographer interested in re-contextualizing ballet: creating
new environments for traditional works and illuminating the relationships between the traditional and the
contemporary. An advocate of new ideas in ballet, Gleich, a co-founder of Norte Maar for Collaborative
Projects in Arts, produces the annual CounterPointe performances in NYC highlighting women making
work for pointe and introducing new collaborations with visual artists. Her company, Gleich Dances, has
performed in the UK and US receiving critical notice in The New York Times, Village Voice, The New
Criterion and Brooklyn Rail. Ms. Gleich received the Distinguished Alumna Award in 2014 from the

Gallery Info: Suggested admission $5, students/seniors $3, members and children under 12 accompanied
by an adult free. Hours: Monday – Wednesday and Friday: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; Thursday 10:00am – 8pm;
and Saturday & Sunday 11am – 4pm. Please call 908-273-9121 to confirm holiday hours. Adult and
children’s group tours for the Art Center’s exhibitions are available throughout the year.
