Sussex County to host Senior Day at New Jersey State Fair (spartaindependent.com subscription) — Sussex County is inviting local seniors to a special Senior Day at the New Jersey State Fair on Thursday, Aug. 6, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. Sussex County Community College, JCP&L plant 100 trees across campus (spartaindependent.com subscription) — Sussex County Community College has planted about 100 new trees across its campus and the Public Safety Training Academy with help from JCP&L and FirstEnergy’s New Jersey Green Team. The project boosts shade, habitat, and energy efficiency locally while building on a prior $10,000 grant that helps lineworker students afford essential safety gear.
4. Miners Dig Themselves Out of 2-0 Hole in Thrilling Victory Over Titans (onnj.com) — Sussex County baseball fans just saw the Miners storm back from a 2–0 deficit to beat the Ottawa Titans 4–2 at home and take the three-game series. A late two-run homer by Edwin Mateo and strong bullpen work sealed the win, giving Sussex County supporters a dramatic, momentum-building midseason victory.
